Today was really special for many reasons:
- It's thanksgiving weekend. What a great time to share and give thanks by giving away.
- We had a big crowd of folks come out to help. We need 10-12 to get the work done. We had about 30 show up. Capstoners are AMAZING and have a HUGE heart to serve. That's what 2008 is going to be about.
- We gave away 57 coats. We did a one-day coat drive last Sunday. I asked folks in the morning service to bring coats to our evening iShare Celebration Service. We had a great response but I didn't know who we were going to give them to. I just knew God planted the idea in my mind! So on Tuesday, it dawned on me that it was our Saturday to do the lunches and that's where we should give the coats out. This morning's cold weather was the perfect morning for a coat giveaway. After watching some of the people come in without coats or in lightweight jackets, I realized why the Lord put the coat giveaway idea in my mind. He is awesome! We were able to clothe some truly needy people for the winter. Praise the Lord!
- There's incredible joy in serving. One of the ladies who helped called me this afternoon to tell me how good it was to be there and give out the coats. She said how great it was to see people get something that they really needed. And they needed those coats!
- I personally enjoyed seeing a man put on my Woolrich coat I've had since college. He was so proud to walk out in the cold with it on. Once again, I realized how truly blessed I am.
